Agility

You might have seen some examples of dogs doing agility going viral on your social media – either because of their success or because of their hilarious failures. Agility is a dog sport that involves the dogs being directed around a specific course of obstacles which can include things like ramps, jumps and tunnels. When trialling in Agility, the idea is to do so quickly and the winning dogs can be super-fast at completing their courses. But speed isn’t the only element, Agility dogs also need to complete each element of the course in a designated manner (designated as such to keep them safe), and in the order and direction that the course dictates.

Training in agility can require a lot of different equipment and you need to know how to lead your dog through the obstacles in a way that is safe for you and for them.

Benefits

Agility is fast, fun, and exciting. Working breeds get a lot out of this sport but so do many other breeds who like burning off a bit of energy.

Before you start

To participate in Agility, dogs must first complete Beginner Obedience, as it is an off leash sport trained on the oval without fencing.
