We will reply by email to all applicants by email. If successful, your email will provide further information, such as payment options, details of the New Member Information Night (no dogs) and training dates.
Please remember that our committee are volunteers, so the email inbox is not monitored 24/7.
Schedule of Fees
Please note: Fees are paid once per year, at the start of the year for returning members, and in the term that you start for new members. Current to 31st December 2026.
Categories
Our categories are set for handlers, with any number of dogs.
Single - One adult handler.
Family - Multiple handlers. Only one handler can train a dog in any given session.
Junior - One handler under 16 years of age, must be accompanied by a parent (parent watches on).
Pensioner - One pensioner handler.
Family Pensioner - Multiple pensioner handlers. Only one handler can train a dog in any given session.
Dogs Victoria members: There are reduced fees for Dogs Victoria members. When applying please advise us of your current Dogs Victoria membership and fees will be advised.
Volunteering at our Club
Bendigo Obedience Dog Club relies on our big-hearted volunteers to operate and has done so for over 60 years. In that time many, many volunteers have contributed to supporting thousands of dogs and owners to have more positive relationships.
We have regular volunteers who help us by instructing classes, helping to maintain our grounds, and communicating opportunities and insights. There are also many shorter term volunteer opportunities that our members might like to consider.
Instructing: you don’t need any experience! In fact, what you learn in class is a great base to start your instructing journey. We supply you with many pathways for learning, be it as a helper, with a mentor, or supporting you with your thoughts on what you can bring to our instructing team.
Maintenance of the grounds: do you have time to regularly mow the puppy pens? We supply the mower and it’s pretty much as it grows we mow! There’s also regular cleaning around the outside of our clubrooms and inside the tennis courts – clearing away debris such as leaves.
Communication: do have time to assist with check in for classes (Sunday and Wednesday), or do you want to help with promotion for the Club in the way of helping with newsletter articles and our website?
Shorter term roles: we hold working bee days for maintenance around our Club, demo dogs and Club events... read below.
Demo Dogs!
We have a regular spot at the Bendigo Show with the opportunity to participate in other events around Bendigo. We show the community what we do – dog sports and class training progression, along with responsible dog handling. We are on the lookout for handlers and dogs to:
• show their skills in dog sports such as tricks, scent work, obedience and agility
• show all levels of obedience training. That’s right – even if you are in puppies or beginner classes, feel free to join in!
BODC Dogs Victoria trial events
There are a number of events or trials hosted by our Club throughout the year and with these dynamic days comes plenty of opportunities to help out. Coming to and volunteering at an event is a great way to find out more about that aspect of dog training and maybe to find a new pursuit for you and your dog.
These events attract judges and competitors not only from our club, but also across Victoria and interstate, and are fantastic for seeing the wider dog community in action.
Whilst some of the roles require a Dogs Victoria membership (eg stewarding), there are other roles, such as set up and pack up of the grounds, car park marshall, food preparation, first aid, etc that you can volunteer for to help our club.
We can’t thank our amazing volunteers enough for all the time they offer so that the Club can be a vibrant and active hub for Obedience and other dog training – which when taken collectively over the history of the Club is hundreds and thousands of hours given for the love of dogs.
You don’t need to be on committee to help out!
